Letters In Christ

Letter 1: Christ is The Way, The Truth, the Life

I recently received a letter and wished to share the correspondence regarding a very common misunderstanding about the Incarnation of Christ and the new age doctrine of Christ Consciousness.

FRIEND:

Hi Kendra,

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. I respect your work and ideas! Although this Baba has components from the Hindu linage, he’s devoted and guided by Jesus and its teachings. I understand the form can be different, but here’s a part of his discourse that I found when he talks about it….

Question: Dear Baba, I know that you avoid speaking about horizontal religions, but to me this is something very important. During my journey, the divine form that opened me up to devotion was Jesus Christ. Even knowing master Osho and shamanism, I melted in my love for Jesus and started believing in the Bible. I had good experiences, and this created a split inside of me and a resistance towards other divine names and the mysteries of the forest, which nevertheless still attract me a lot. Could it be that Jesus said he was the only path? What can I do now? Please help me.

Baba: Any master teacher who is fully self-realized will say the same: “I am the path, I am the truth and I am life. No one will reach the master without passing through me, for I am the doorway.” There is only one door, but it manifests itself in many different ways according to the time, place, circumstance and frequency of monads, the divine principles that inhabit each body.

If you feel a deep attraction towards Jesus, towards this form of the divine, this aspect of the door, then simply surrender. Don’t question it. Don’t even think about it. The poison is the mental conditioning. Truth is one; the poison is the misinterpretation of the truth. If you truly surrender to Jesus, a time will come when you see Jesus in everyone. I see no difference between Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, or Sachcha Baba. Everything is God. I don’t speak much about horizontal religion because I don’t understand much about it. It’s not really my subject. Horizontal religion is a product of the human mind that was created in order to fulfill a social need.

If you feel this deep attraction towards Jesus, surrender to that and become Jesus. Allow the water droplet to dissolve into the ocean. But do not fall into the trap of imitation. Horizontal religions have been creating a lot of madness and misery on this planet. Remain attentive and don’t be fooled by horizontal religion. If your connection is with Jesus, then surrender to him and allow forgiveness and love to truly awaken inside of you.

What is the essence of the transmission that Jesus made? “Love God above everything else and the rest will be given to you.” Surrender to God and everything you need will come. In my view, the main pearl of wisdom transmitted by Jesus was when he was being beaten and crucified and said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Christians and Jews alike often do not fully understand the power of what he said: when you are able to experience this degree of forgiveness and love, you become one with him, and you are free. Is this any different from what other master teachers speak about? Maybe they say it in different words, but it’s not possible for a self-realized person to say anything different than this. A self-realized person is a channel of the truth, and the truth is one. It may change in its form, but its essence is one.

Thank you!

ME:

Dear L,

I apologize for my late response, I had many video shoots to keep up with and a memorial service. I hadn’t had time to reply until now. I used to believe this type of gnostic thought, but I no longer believer that we are “all Jesus” or we are all divine or that Jesus was merely a fore runner of the type of consciousness that we all must attain to.
Baba says, “Any master teacher who is fully self-realized will say the same: “I am the path, I am the truth and I am life. No one will reach the master without passing through me, for I am the doorway.” This is not what the bible teaches however. When Christ said, I am the truth and the life, it is because He is the actual physical entity, the objective material called “life”. He is divine, meaning that He is self-sustaining. Here is a clear indicator that we are not divine. Must we depend on an outside source other than ourselves to sustain life? Yes, we need material food, water, air and well regulated temperatures in order to be sustained. When Christ was out in the wilderness, what was His temptation? He was tempted to turn stones into bread. The temptations of Christ were two-fold, the weakness of his humanity was tested, but also His INNATE DIVINITY. I have never been tempted to turn stones into bread because I cannot. But One who is the Creator was tempted to use His own innate divine power in order to save Himself. However, since Christ came to this earth as a Substitute, He must be fully subjected to human limitations and was not permitted to meet His own needs using His innate ability. If He was to draw from His innate reservoir, He would be disqualified as man’s substitute. Therefore, He was tempted to exercise His own innate divine powers, of which we have none.
To say that one day we can “become Jesus” and that “I see no difference between Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, or Sachcha Baba. Everything is God,” is the essence of Pantheism. The bible does not teach that everyone can become Jesus or that everything is God. God is distinct in His person and His first commandment is, “You shall have no other gods before Me”. Meaning that there are other spirits that are contending for the supreme affections of man, but that Yahweh alone is worthy. Are there other spirits, other beings more powerful than ourselves who exceed man in wisdom and ability? Yes, and the bible identifies these as fallen angels, powers of Darkness that cloak themselves in subtle disguises calling themselves angels of light. But Christ Himself repeated the same commandment to Satan while in the wilderness, saying, “It is written, ‘You shall worship Yahweh your God and Him only shall you serve.” Matthew 4:10 There is only ONE God, whose name is Yahweh. Yes He is the source of all life, but He does not manifest Himself in many ways, taking on many forms. That would be Pantheism. He incarnated Himself only in the person of Jesus Christ. The Father Himself spoke from heaven and said, “This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, hear Him.” Matthew 17:5.  This is the only incarnation that the bible acknowledges as from God.
In fact to say that we can all become as God is to repeat the same lie that was spoken of in the garden of Eve, when the serpent whispered, “God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened and you shall be like God.” The very premise of the bible antagonist, Satan, is that we are all God. But the bible identifies these types of sophistries as a lie. To place no distinction between Jesus and every other self-proclaimed prophet is to demote the entire economy of God. Christ was sent to perform a very special work, to give an atonement for sin. Are there consequences for breaking the laws of government? What about the laws of health? Yes! How much more to break the divine law of Life, in which the result of transgression against God has been a continual entropy of life, ending in the grave. Who can reverse such a course? On what legal basis can this be done? On the legal basis that Christ, being both human and divine, had the infinite capacity to pay the price of death for every man that He might give to every man who asks of Him eternal life.
Jesus did not just pop up on the scene 2000 years ago, waxing eloquent and speaking in a grandiose fashion. The work and mission that He was to perform goes back to the Garden of Eden, when God clothed both Adam and Eve in the skins of a slain lamb in Genesis 3:21. God was showing them by what means could they be reconciled to God. God must sacrifice Himself. The innocent must die for the guilty that we may be clothed in His righteousness. The story of Cain and Abel again repeats the parable. Only the offering that reflect the sacrifice of Christ would be accepted. The fruit of Cain’s offering, the offering of human achievement and benevolence was rejected. We needed not good works to be saved, but the sacrifice of another life, that would stand in our place in order to be reconciled to God.
The sanctuary of Moses was erected for the very purpose of allowing God to dwell with man. However, through the sanctuary we see the only way possible for God to dwell with man is through sacrifice. In the outer court of the temple, one could draw near to God only through the sacrifice of a substitutionary life, which was to represent Jesus. Leviticus 1 tells us that these offerings were for “acceptance”. After the sacrifice there was the washing of the water, which represented the cleansing and renewal of the Holy Spirit, a life renewed, made into the likeness and character of the Creator, merciful, gracious, longsuffering, forgiving, loving. The inner court, is where the blood of this sacrifice must plead on the sinner’s behalf and the incense of Christ’s righteousness stand in man’s stead. The entire sanctuary economy was a foretelling of the work of Jesus.
The prophets proclaimed His work. Isaiah 53 gives a clear description of Christ coming as a lamb to slaughter to pay for the sins of the world. Finally when Jesus comes and does what He had prophesied that He would do since the beginning of the world that man might become reconciled to God, it was no strange or ordinary work. It was a unique work that only God could do. No man, no creature could pay the price for another creature. Our perfect and wonderful obedience to God could only be enough for our own life. Never another.
Even the ancient chinese writings, the OLDEST WRITING we have to date about 2300 BC. does nothing but describe the genesis account. Just read “The Discovery of Genesis” by Kang and Nelson. The biblical account of creation and redemption is the oldest and most sure accounts that we have to date, why would we place our confidence in trust in teachings that are new, spurious and have truths mixed in with untruths?
I implore you to please ask any questions that you would like of me, I would love to answer any and all that you would like to know because my heart goes out to you, since I too, believed that I was divine, that Christ attained to a consciousness that I myself could reach and that my spiritual ascent would be enough to atone for my own hurt in life and the hurt I had given to others. But in the weights and measurements of God, it is inefficient. I still felt empty inside and the peace of being reconciled to God truly was not in me. And I pray for you the biggest blessing of all, that you will not find peace in a false belief, but that God would prod you on into the full truth that Jesus Christ is the Only Way.
John 3:16 is very clear that Christ is God’s ONLY begotten son. [Jhn 3:16 NKJV] 16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” To be an ONLY BEGOTTEN means you are the only one who receives the inheritance. Christ alone has received all glory and power from the Father. He has received back the throne in heaven from which He descended as well as the right to be Lord and Judge of all. Revelation declares of Him, “saying with a loud voice: ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!’ And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: ‘Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Revelation 5:12-13.
Paul declares that Jesus Christ is “the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:14-16.
John says, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12.
There is no life outside of Jesus Christ, because He does not just know where to get life, but He is the material entity of Life itself. No earthly man can say, “I am the life” without being a liar. God alone can declare this of Himself and it be true.
Yours Truly In Spiritual Friendship,
Kendra
